Aruna Miller of Indian descent became the lieutenant governor of Maryland

Aruna was sworn in as the 10th Lieutenant Governor of the state of Maryland. After being decorated with the prestigious post, he tweeted, “We have made history. But the power is not in the making of history, but in the hands of the people. This is just the beginning of a journey.

The 58-year-old Miller’s family had settled in America years ago. His father came to America in 1960 as a mechanical engineer. Later he took his family with him. Aruna was seven years old at that time. After earning a degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri, Aruna worked for the Montgomery County Department of Transportation for 25 years.
