Significance of Eid ul-Fitr
Now the term Eid means festival and the idul Fatah is literally translated as the festival of breaking of the fast. It is a three-day long celebration to celebrate the end of holy month of Ramdan where Muslim around the world fasted during the day light hours
Allah wanted people to understand the importance of “Empathy”. empathy to place oneself in another shoes, when we get food any time we want, it is easy to become complacent and forget exactly that how lucky we are to have food on our plate and a shelter over ours head,
The fasting of Ramzan teaches Muslims to be patient, unselfish, kind it’s gives them strength makes the resilient and brings them together ❤️
It teaches people to be thankful to God for providing them with everything they need as there are others who are not so lucky. That is why we feed the poor, giving them our share of food because we understood their hunger, there suffering and their hearts to better ❤️Understand ours…👍
Besides, we keep putting toxins in our body all year by eating all that junk foods- pizza, burgers, Ice-creams, KFC, biriyani. Fasting during the holy month purifies the body of all toxins and bad things one may have eaten throughout the year. Going one step further, it is even said to purify our soul
But where in the Quran is mandated that one month of fasting be observed?
For that we have to go back to the very beginning………When prophet Muhammad was spoken to by Allah himself. The Quran wad revealed to the prophet Muhammad in 620 AD on the occasion known as laylat al-Qadr, also known as “the night of power”. Observance of Ramzan is mandated in the Quran Surah 2, Ayah 185. “The MONTH of Ramazan is that which revealed the Qur’an, guidance for the people and clear proof of guidance and criterion.
So, whoever sights (the new moon of) the month, let him fast it. And too Honour this first revelation of our Quran by Allah to our prophet, we fast to this day, sighting of a full moon, known as “EID KA CHAAND” Marks the end of Ramzan It is therefore, a day of feasting and happiness. The festival is called EID-ul-fitr and the customary greeting during it is EID MUBARAK It begins with the tenth month of the Islamic Calander which called chaiwallah Now to determine the beginning and end of each Islamic month a moon sighting committee monitor the lunar cycle before making the full public announcement, Now let us know confuse this with aid al-Adah there are two Eid’s in Islamic traditions. The other is observed to mark the Hajj pilgrimage and is known as the festival Of sacrifice
